Waxahachie, TX, November 27, 2017 – Jana Lynne Sanchez, Democratic Candidate for US Congress (TX06) today announced that her campaign has raised more than $100,000 in its record-breaking campaign to unseat 33-year incumbent Joe Barton. The amount raised to date far exceeds the amount raised by any Democratic candidate running against Barton for more than 20 years and for the entire race, primary and general.

The funds come primarily from the DFW region, including the district, which spans from Arlington to Corsicana, although a large number of national grassroots donors have contributed. The campaign counts more than 1,200 donations from $1 to the maximum of $2,700.

“Everywhere we go people say they are so excited to have a strong Democrat who can raise money and is willing to do the work to take on Joe,” says Sanchez. “We’ve reached more than 4,000 Democratic primary voters in their homes and they always say that they have never had a candidate come personally to their doors,” she adds.

The campaign is focused on the issues most important to the voters of the district – the unbearable cost of healthcare, the desire to ensure well-funded neighborhood schools not depleted by vouchers and the lack of good jobs for our high school graduates. Sanchez is also a strong proponent of Congressional term limits.

Sanchez will file her papers to be added to the primary ballot on Tuesday in Austin.

Sanchez has been endorsed by the Latino Majority PAC, Climate Hawk Vote PAC and in September, Sanchez received the support of the New Democratic Coalition PAC, representing 61 members of US Congress who are pro-growth problem solvers.
