Raises more money in primary than any Democratic challenger to Barton for entire race in 33 years

Arlington, TX, October 20, 2017 – Jana Lynne Sanchez, Democratic Candidate for US Congress (TX06) today announced that the campaign has already raised more money in the early primary period than any previous Democratic challenger to Rep Joe Barton in his 33 years in office.

The campaign had collected more than $80,000 in contributions by mid-October. The highest amount raised for the entire primary and general campaign by previous Democratic challengers was only $56,000, excluding loans and other contributions from candidates themselves. The funds have been raised by almost 1,000 contributions ranging from $1 to $2,700 with the average contribution size around $80.00.

In addition to the campaign’s fundraising activities, the candidate, with staff and volunteers, walks precincts five days a week, engaging with voters door to door to discuss issues of importance to them.

“Voters tell us every day what they care about is affordable healthcare for all, good jobs for high school graduates and well-funded neighborhood schools. There’s also a huge demand for Congressional Term Limits, which I support 100%,” says Sanchez.

The campaign has been the subject of 15 news articles in national and local media to date.

Last month, Sanchez received the support of the New Democratic Coalition, representing 61 members of US Congress who are pro-growth problem solvers. A key part of her platform is her ability to reach across the aisle and find solutions that benefit all members of Congressional District 6.

“People are ready for change and to have a representative in Congress who will stand up for the residents of the district and of the state. As we always say, it’s Time to Texas Up!,” says Sanchez. The campaign headquarters are in Arlington, and the candidate lives in Waxahachie.
